Ballet Folklorico Azatlan is a performing group and presentations are conducted in a professional manner with emphasis on showmanship, choreography, footwork, and body style. The costumes are beautiful, yet traditional, from the headpieces down to the shoes. This is not a Folklorico that simply allows its dancers to jump around on stage looking silly; it is a group that emphasizes entertaining the audience with stage presence from entrance to exit in a professional manner.
Ballet Folklorico Azatlan presents Mexican dances from twelve states of Mexico:
- Nayarit – One of our most popular presentations where the girls balance glasses of water on their heads while dancing and using intricate skirt movements
- Azteca Concheros (Pre-Columbian) – Dancers dance to a live drum percussionist and head-dresses made of feather plums
- Michoacan – Including “Baile de Los Viejitos”
- Jalisco – Including the “Charras” segment with riatas
- Yucatan – Including the “Baile de Las Cintas” (Maypole dance)
- Tamaulipas
- Chiapas
- Veracruz
- Norte
- Guerrero
- Sinaloa
- Baja California Sur
